Safety, Security and Chassis
Safety, Security and chassis is all about protecting the car and its occupants. It protects from theft, crashes, accidents, and now even near misses. Crash preventing systems can even take control of the steering and brakes if it senses a crash is about to happen and help prevent it by breaking or veering away. Airbags and squibs detonate upon crashing to protect occupants and prevent injury. Alarms and internal sensors also help prevent theft and loss of the cars.

 | Used for the car's Key Fob. |  | RAM RAM is quick access volatile memory used for variables, and storing temporary information. |
 | Used to receive the Key fob's signal. |  | mosfets are used to increase power but to a lesser amount than a power amplifier, e.g. For stepper motors or low power DC motors |
 | RFID is used a lot in newer cars for keyless entry and keyless start. |  | Signal Amplifier Power amplifiers are used to amplify analogue signals or boost current and voltage of a digital input. Used to power motors or amplify the output from LDRs or thermistors. |
 | PIR is used for internal security for cars. |  | Squib Driver Squib drivers are used in every car to set off the explosive devices that fire the airbags during a crash. One of the most important safety devices in a car. |
 | proximity/reed sensor Proximity/reed sensors are used to detect door opening and window opening. |  | DC motors Small low voltage DC motors are used to control dials and wipers. |
 | Accelerometer can detect everything from moving, to tipping, to sharp bends, to crashes, a must have for any telemetry system. |  | Stepper Motors Stepper motors are used for any high torque low speed accurate motor. E.g. For windows, door locking, wipers, etc. |
 | Gyroscopes Gyroscopes can accurately detect rotation without being effected by acceleration and is a must have for any telemetry system. |  | Solenoid Solenoids are used to lock doors or catches. Anything that requires short linear motion. |
 | MCU The MCU is the Central control. It controls and manages everything. |  | Alarm Alarms are the signal device and deterrent to would be thieves. They alert people if the car is broken into or it senses unauthorized movement. |
 | RTCs are required to keep accurate timings. This ensures that all the systems in the car are in sync. |  | Airbag protect the passengers and drivers during a crash. A legal requirement and the most important safety device. |
 | Flash Flash is used as none-volatile memory to store programs and settings, and persistent data. |
