Product Overview
The MAX13085EEPA+ is a 5V, ±15KV ESD-protected, fail-safe, hot-swap, RS485/RS422 transceiver in 8 pin DIP package. The transceiver features one driver and one receiver, it includes fail-safe circuitry, gives a logic-high receiver output when receiver inputs are open or shorted. The receiver outputs logic-high if all transmitters on a terminated bus are disabled (high impedance). It includes a hot-swap capability to eliminate false transitions on the bus during power-up or hot insertion. It is ideal for half-duplex communications and it draws 1.2mA of supply current when unloaded or when fully loaded with the drivers disabled. It is used in utility meters, telecom, instrumentation and profibus.
