Weller FT Zero-Smog Fume Extraction Kit

In many workplace environments, soldering and adhesive application can pose significant health hazards. The move to lead-free soldering was thought by many to be a solution but lead-free soldering smoke emissions present a problem of their own – breathable fine dust particles. A higher number of smaller particles is produced due to higher working temperatures required and because more flux is used in the soldering process.

In many countries, legislation governing clean air in the work place requires that hazardous substances are removed from the air in order to avoid harmful effects on people and machines.

WellerFT offers two types of Fume Extraction solutions – volume extraction and tip extraction. Volume extraction enables large areas to be covered and is low maintenance, with quick and easy installation. Tip extraction is a budget solution that requires lower investment per workplace, which extracts pollution direct at the source, supporting up to 20 soldering points with one system (maximum 200m apart). Tip extraction is ergonomic with easy access to the work piece, featuring minimal air movement and no noise.

WellerFT Zero-Smog Systems have a three-stage filter system (excl. MG 100S) for removing small particles, fumes and gases that are produced in different working processes. The hazardous substances are efficiently captured by the nozzle and are absorbed into the filter. Bigger particles get caught in the pre-filter and smaller particles get caught in the HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter.

The wide band gas filter removes fumes and adhesives. The end product – clean air – is then recirculated into the workplace.
