Product Overview
MAX3485 is a 3.3V powered, 10Mbps, true RS-485/RS-422 transceiver. Each part contains one driver and one receiver. Driver is short-circuit current-limited and are protected against excessive power dissipation by thermal shutdown circuitry that places the driver outputs into a high-impedance state. The receiver input has a fail-safe feature that guarantees a logic-high output if both inputs are open circuit. Application includes low-power RS-485/RS-422 transceivers, telecommunications, transceivers for EMI sensitive applications, industrial-control local area networks.
- 3V to 3.6V supply voltage range, half duplex
- Driver/receiver enable, 2nA shutdown current
- Operate from a single 3.3V supply no charge pump, interoperable with +5V Logic
- 8ns maximum driver propagation delay skew (RL = 27ohm, VCC = 3.3V, TA = +25°C)
- Common mode input voltage range from -7V to +12V
- Industry standard 75176 pinout, pin count is 8
- Current limiting and thermal shutdown for driver overload protection
- 3V maximum driver common-mode output voltage (RL = 54ohm or 100 ohm, TA = +25°C)
- 1.1mA typical supply current (no load, DI = 0V or VCC, DE = VCC, RE = 0V or VCC)
- 8 pin SO package, temperature range from -40°C to +85°C
