Product Description

Laird ferrite cable cores, most often used to suppress common mode EMI, can be used on both the internal and external cable assemblies of electronic equipment. These products are able to provide substantial reductions in both cost and the need for shielding by making use of the cables cores’ ability to dramatically reduce radiated EMI from internal cables. Alternatively the cable cores can be used on power cables that carry digital or analog signaling.

Maximum performance is achieved by choosing a ferrite with an inner diameter most closely matching the outer diameter of the wire or wire bundle to be filtered.  The in-circuit impedance may be substantially increased by passing two turns of the wire conductor through the ferrite cable core.  A typical common mode application might have two conductors passed through a ferrite cable core.  With equal and opposite currents flowing through the core, zero net bias is established through the component and, thus, maximum impedance is realized from the ferrite.  

Also available for ribbon and split cables.

Great Impedance Values

Laird Ferrite Cable Cores cover low frequency (300kHz to 30MHz) as LF materials , broadband (25MHz to 900MHz) as 28 material and high frequency (500MHz to 2GHz) as HF material.

Easy to Use

To achieve maximum EMI filtering performance in a given application, select a ferrite with an inner diameter most closely matching the outer diameter of the wire or wire bundle to be filtered.
