Invoicing & Payment
We offer a choice of invoicing and payment options during the checkout process:
- Use an existing trade account
- Use a credit/debit card
- Request to open a new trade account when you checkout
Checkout using an existing Farnell trade account
If you are a returning trade account customer, who has previously placed an online order using your trade account, then your account number(s) will appear in the Checkout/Payment section and will be preselected.
If you have more than one account, there will be a menu to select the account you want to use for your current order. To purchase even faster next time - you can select a preferred account in your My Account/Order Preferences; your Checkout options will then be preselected based on your preferences.

Link to existing Farnell trade account
If your trade account number in not listed at checkout, or you have only ordered by phone/email previously, it means that your web account and your trade account have not been linked yet.
All you have to do to create the link is place your first online order!
Here is how to do that:
- First – you must be a registered online user. Click here to register and create your web account
- Select Trade Account as the Payment Method at Checkout, and then select Existing Trade Account
- Enter your Trade Account Number (as it appears on your invoices)
- Enter your Customer ID if you know it (CID appears on your invoices as well, if you have placed an order before)
Once we receive your online order, we will check your account details and make sure you are linked to the correct trade account. If authorised, the order will be processed and invoiced to the correct billing account. That’s it! Next time you return to the website and log in - your account number(s) will appear in the Checkout/Payment section and also in your My Account/Order Preferences.

Benefits of linking your web account and your trade account
- Fast checkout – your delivery and invoice details are prepopulated
- See your contract prices as you browse and purchase (if these have been agreed for your company)
- Manage your order preferences in My Account – easily request an update to your Invoice address or set your preferred Billing Account if you are linked to more than one
- See all the order history for the account, for orders placed online and offline, by all linked contacts. This allows you to keep track of orders placed by you and your colleagues as well.
- View your eQuotes in the My Account/Quotes dashboard

Request a new Farnell trade account
Whether you are a new or returning customer, you may request to "Open a new trade account" if you want to start a new credit account for your order. You may choose a Trade Account or Business Card Account; you will be sked to submit information about your company so that we can process your new account request. Your order will be subject to credit check and authorisation.
