Product Description

Epcos has extended its range of Ferrite and accessories, including RM cores, PQ cores, Coil formers and Clamps.

RM cores are ideal for extremely low-loss, highly stable filter coils and other resonance-determining inductive components as well as low-distortion broadband transformers for small signals.

RM cores without a centre hole are also used in power electronics. Typical materials employed here are N87, N92 and N97.

PQ cores are suitable for switch-mode power supplies and are a preferred shape for power conversion.

The main advantages of PQ cores compared to the conventional round/rectangular E type cores are the optimised round leg and wider outer surface.

The round leg reduces winding length, which saves on the cost of copper in the manufacturing, while the wider surface area lowers the thermal resistance by offering a larger area for heat dissipation. This shape also provides better shielding to the winding.
