CircuitStudio comes from Altium Ltd, a software company founded in Tasmania, Australia, as Protel in 1985 by Nicholas Martin. The company provides PC-based electronics design software for engineers and made the first PCB design software that works on a PC without the need for expensive mainframe computers.
