Product Description

The new NXP Freedom Kinetis E based series of development kits is ideal for developing applications in electrically noisy environments that require a high amount of EMI robustness.
The Kinetis E series is targeted for designs that require lower pin counts, are cost sensitive and may have the need for various motor control applications. It features a six-channel 16-bit Flextimer optimised for motor control with synchronisation to ADC via PDB and up to eight high drive pins with each supporting 40mA.

The FRDM-KE02Z40M and FRDM-KE06Z are simple, yet sophisticated development platforms for Kinetis KE02 MCUs, built on ARM Cortex-M0+ core. Features include easy access to MCU I/O, battery-ready, a standard-based form factor with expansion board options and a built-in debug interface for flash programming and run-control. They are supported by a range of NXP and third party development software.
Features include a capacitive touch slider (FRDM-KE02Z40M only), MMA8451Q accelerometer, Tri-color LED, Thermistor sensor (FRDM-KE02Z40M only), CAN communication, flexible power supply options (USB, external source, IrDA transmitter and receiver, a form factor compatible with Arduino R3 pin layout and a new OpenSDA debug interface.

Typical applications

Appliances, DC fans, BLDC motors, PLC, offline UPS, analogue power management and DC/DC conversion.

KE02Z64VQH4 MCU (40 MHz, 64 KB flash, 4 KB SRAM, 64QFP) in the FRDM-KE02Z40M and KE06Z128VLK4 MCU (48MHz, 128KB Flash, 16KB SRAM, 80LQFP) in the FRDM-KE06Z.

Interface functions

MMA8451Q accelerometer, Tri-color LED, CAN communication, IrDA transmitter and receiver. FRDM-KE02Z40M also boasts a capacitive touch slider and thermistor sensor.
